What is recuperation?<\/strong><\/h2>

Heat recovery<\/strong> is the process of using the energy and heat from the exhaust air to pre-heat or pre-cool the incoming new air. This means that heat that would otherwise have gone to the outside environment<\/strong> is used to heat the air entering the building. This minimises heat loss and reduces energy costs<\/strong> by making sensible use of existing heat. Heat recovery contributes to a more efficient use of energy and improves<\/strong> indoor air quality<\/strong>. <\/p>

This continuous air exchange is carried out by means of a ventilation unit with heat recovery<\/strong>. These are called air heat recovery units<\/strong>. How do they work and why should you reach for one? <\/p>

How do air recuperation units work?<\/strong><\/h2>

The role of heat recovery units is to transfer the heat energy<\/strong> from the outgoing air to the incoming air. This process takes place in a so-called heat exchanger<\/strong>, which consists of heat exchange plates. Both hot and cold air flows between them, with the outgoing and incoming air streams separated. This eliminates the risk of them mixing, which could lead to unpleasant odours and other problems. <\/p>

The efficiency of the whole process ranges from 80 to 95%. <\/strong>Since in many cases the supply air still needs to be heated to the required temperature, electric or hot-water heaters<\/strong> are also used, either as part of the air handling system or fitted directly into the ductwork that supplies the air.<\/p>

Using heat recovery units therefore leads to better indoor environmental quality<\/strong>, healthier indoor air, lower humidity in your home and, last but not least, lower energy costs<\/strong>.<\/p>
